Underwater Projects Film Screening & Conversation | Tuesday, November 18, 2025 from 6:30-8 p.m. at Cafe Resistance Bookstore
Join St. Johns Riverkeeper, Black Films Matter, Northside Pride, and Northside Coalition for a conversation about the potential impact of flooding in our area.
Film Summary
Home to the world’s largest naval base, Norfolk, Virginia is sinking. It is more vulnerable than even New Orleans. The insufficient flood walls end where a housing project and a historic African American community begins. Underwater Projects mixes animation with live action to profile the area’s local leaders as they rush to create climate resilience plans to face an uncertain future. Featuring Wanda Sykes and directed by Liz Havstad.
Panel Discussion
After the film, join the conversation facilitated by Love Reigns with community leaders who live, work, or frequent the Resilient Ribault project area surrounding the Trout and Ribault rivers – local areas that are also vulnerable to flooding.
