Year Long River Monitoring
River Exploration Backpack Project
Ever wonder how you and your students can make a difference in the health of our local environment? Through the River Exploration Backpack Project, students monitor water quality of the St. Johns River and share their data with other participating schools.
Want to participate?
Schools are asked to test water quality at your assigned site once a month with their class or club and share collected data with St. Johns Riverkeeper’s education team. Participating schools will have access to all the compiled data. St. Johns Riverkeeper will provide testing equipment and supporting educational materials. A St. Johns Riverkeeper educator will visit your class and help train students on the equipment. We will also be available for assistance throughout the year.
All research and discussions are designed to be student driven. Students currently participating in the program have enjoyed the research and have been motivated to organize other river awareness projects like cleanups and science nights.
