September 27 @ 8:00 am - 7:00 pm

National Public Lands Day at Julington-Durbin Creek Preserve | Saturday, September 27
This National Public Lands Day, we’re inviting you to a choose-your-own-adventure celebration at Julington-Durbin Creek Preserve! We have partnered with several like-minded organizations in our area and can’t wait to spend some time on our beautiful public lands with you. Whether you want to take a leisurely educational stroll, stretch and breathe under the trees, or take a long hike through the preserve, you can sign up for as many—or as few—activities as you’d like.
Schedule of Events:
8-9:30 a.m. | Nature Walk with the Ixia Chapter of Florida Native Plant Society & Duval Audubon
Explore ~2 miles out-and-back while learning to identify local birds and plants. Meet at the picnic area at 13200 Bartram Park Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32258 by 8 a.m.
9:30-10:30 a.m. | Morning Meditation with The Naham Experience
A grounding practice before (or after) heading out on the trail. Meet at the picnic area at 13200 Bartram Park Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32258.
10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. | Hike with Sierra Club
We’ll be traversing the “white loop” – a ~4 mile loop through the preserve’s diverse habitats. This will be a little more exertive than the morning’s “nature walk,” but still an easy, flat hike. Meet at the picnic area at 13200 Bartram Park Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32258.
~12:30 p.m. | Picnic & Conversation
Bring your own lunch and join us at the picnic area after the morning’s events for community conversation about the importance of public lands in protecting our river, wildlife, and communities—and how you can take action to protect them.
This event is free, family-friendly, and flexible. Come for one activity, or spend the whole morning exploring all the preserve has to offer.
4-7 p.m. | Stand Up Paddleboard Excursion with Earthwander Tours
Join Earthwander FL for an unforgettable paddle experience while we support the right of public lands to stay in the hands of the public!
Cost: $45 includes your paddleboard rental. If you would like to bring your own board or kayak, there is no cost to join us and enjoy this outing!
