SUMMARY:Paddle the Silver River
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a paddle on the Silver River with Adventure Outpost and special guest Gina Kent\, a Swallow-tailed Kite expert from the Avian Research and Conservation Institute (ARCI) in Gainesville. \nCome experience the amazing biodiversity of plants and animals along the Silver River. Through the clear waters of the spring\, you will be able to see a variety of fish\, macroinvertebrates\, and maybe an eel\, but along the shoreline there are turtles\, gators\, and plenty of other reptiles\, all in their natural habitat. \nThere are also a number of birds in the Silver River Forest\, which is a part of the Ocklawaha Basin. The tour will be lead by expert guide\, Lars Andersen of Adventure Outpost. Gina Kent will be on hand to point out and speak to various birds and wildlife along the paddle. \nThis is an easy-paced paddle suitable for beginners and pros alike. \nRegister\nTo register\, please call Adventure Outpost at (386) 497-4214. DESCRIPTION:Join us for some Wine & Wisdom on the Water as Kay Ehas shares more about the Emerald Trail.  When complete\, the Emerald Trail will encompass approximately 30 miles of trails\, greenways\, and parks that encircle the urban core and link approximately 14 historic neighborhoods to downtown\, Hogans Creek\, McCoys Creek\, and the St. Johns River. \n \n\n\nWith a new boat trip and speaker each month\, this speakers series will present opportunities for participants to learn more about the St. Johns River. Throughout the year we’ll have experts on the River’s history\, fun and fascinating ways to enjoy the River\, as well as issues threatening the health of the St. Johns River and its tributaries. \nThe River Taxi will depart from the Jackson Street Dock\, in Riverside\, located at the River’s edge on Jackson Street\, between the Winston Family YMCA and Haskell Buildings. \nBeer and Wine are available for purchase on the River Taxi. \nREGISTER\nCost\n$25 per ticket

DESCRIPTION:We’ve partnered with Duval Audubon to conduct a youth birding walk at Riverview Park. During the walk\, we’ll talk about how to use binoculars\, techniques on urban birding\, and what to look and listen for when you’re birdwatching. Every child will be completing a “My First Bird Count” sheet and learn how to properly describe the birds they see.
