Trash grabbers will be available.\nLeave hazardous items\, such as syringes or dead animals\, in place and notify the Site Captain.\nDo not try to pick up items too heavy for you to lift. When in doubt\, seek help.\nRespect wildlife and keep your distance.\nTake breaks as needed\, protect yourself from the sun\, and drink plenty of water.\nMake sure trash bags are not too full to close and secure.\nKeep tires separate from the trash bags.\n\nResilient Ribault\nThe Resilient Ribault initiative is a community-driven effort led by St. Johns Riverkeeper & LISC Jacksonville to protect and restore the Ribault River and the neighborhoods that call it home. At Riverview Park\, volunteers play a vital role in caring for one of the most important public access points to the river—supporting clean water\, healthy habitats\, and safe\, welcoming spaces for recreation and learning. \nThrough hands-on volunteer opportunities\, Resilient Ribault connects residents\, partners\, and local leaders to nature-based solutions like shoreline stewardship\, litter prevention\, habitat enhancement\, and community education. Every hour you give helps strengthen river health\, build neighborhood resilience\, and ensure the Trout River remains a resource for generations to come. \nWhether you’re a first-time volunteer or a returning steward of the river\, your participation at Riverview Park directly supports environmental justice\, climate resilience\, and community pride in Northwest Jacksonville.

SUMMARY:Learn\, Connect & Collect Your PFAS Sample Kit
DESCRIPTION:Learn\, Connect & Collect Your PFAS Sample Kit | Saturday\, August 29 | 12-3 p.m. | Melbourne Public Library (Conference Room)\nJoin us in the Melbourne Public Library’s conference room to learn more about PFAS (“forever chemicals”) and how they may affect our water\, health\, and communities. \nEnrolled study participants can stop by to pick up their PFAS sampling kits and receive instructions for collecting their tap water samples. \nInterested in participating in the PFAS study? Come learn about the study\, ask questions\, and find out how you can get involved. We are recruiting households for a pilot study investigating the presence of PFAS (“forever chemicals”) in drinking water connected to Lake Washington\, part of the Upper St. Johns River Basin. Participation requires collecting a one-time sample of your tap water. \nLearn more on our blog and sign up for the study. \nAll community members are welcome! Even if you are not participating in the study\, you can attend to learn more about PFAS\, why we are studying them\, and what you can do to better understand and protect your local water resources. \nWhether you’re already part of the study or simply curious about PFAS\, we invite you to join us\, ask questions\, and connect with others in the community. \nRSVP\nThis is a free event – RSVP here.
