DESCRIPTION:Downtown Sanford Cleanup with Central Florida RECON | Sunday\, November 1 | 9-11 a.m. | 307 E 2nd St\, Sanford\, FL\nJoin Central Florida RECON and St Johns Riverkeeper as we attend the monthly Keep Sanford Sparkling community cleanup in downtown Sanford on November 1st! \nThis monthly walking cleanup covers the business district of downtown Sanford. Look for the Goodwill as the landmark and find us at the parking lot next to the Goodwill. We will have grabbers\, gloves\, buckets and garbage bags ready for the event. \nDepending on the turnout\, we may take a trip down to the Marina and see if we can find more trash by the water. If you would like to turn back early\, please leave your equipment where we start the event. \nPrior to the event\, we will take a group photo. After we have all returned\, we will bag the trash and weigh it for the day’s total haul. \nJoin us afterwards as we grab lunch at one of the many local restaurants within walking distance. Learn about how to get involved with local volunteering opportunities to safeguard the St. Johns River and push for the protection of our waterways. This event will be held after our community cleanup of Lake Monroe and downtown Sanford – register here for the cleanup. \nA small hand towel will be provided to participants\, but we encourage all to bring their own white or light-colored textiles (e.g.\, dish cloths\, towels\, shirts\, tote bag) made of natural fibers (cotton\, usually). \nParticipants are encouraged to either: \n\nbring a shirt they already have at home\, or\npurchase a t-shirt at a second-hand store\n\nRSVP\nRegister here – this is a free event\, but is capped at 20 participants!

The waste water that this wetland treats is pumped into the St. Johns River and helps prevent algae blooms in this integral body of water.
