SUMMARY:River Oaks Park Education and Service Outing with San Marco Preservation Society
DESCRIPTION:River Oaks Park Education and Service Outing with San Marco Preservation Society | Saturday\, December 13\, 2025 | 10 a.m. – Noon | River Oaks Park: Beginning at the bridge across Craig Creek at the east end of the park near Brookwood Road\nJoin SJRK and the San Marco Preservation Society for an educational cleanup and outing at River Oaks Park! \nThis is a recreational\, educational\, and service outing for individuals who value neighborhood greenspaces and the St Johns River. The event will showcase the River Oaks Park in San Marco\, its lush plant life\, Craig Creek\, and the St Johns River. The event will illustrate the role the park plays in sustaining community vibrancy and resiliency. It will also illustrate the role the park and its creek play in sustaining St Johns River health. \nThe outing will begin at the bridge in River Oaks Park near Brookwood Road and proceed westward along Craig Creek to the St Johns River and then back to the bridge. The event will include a walk through the park to collect trash and debris with stops to discuss the park vegetation and the role it plays in sustaining river health. Efforts will be made to highlight the role the park and Craig Creek in sustaining St Johns River health. \nRegister\nPlease RSVP here. \nWhat to Bring/Wear\n\nComfortable\, water-resistant shoes or boots (Especially if you plan to help pick up trash – the grassy areas of the park and the creek bank tend to be wet.)\nProtective clothing (hat\, sunglasses) and sunscreen\nFULL reusable water bottle\n\nThere are no restrooms and/or portlets in the park\, so plan accordingly. \nDirections and Parking\nThe address for River Oaks Park is 1000 River Oaks Road\, but the outing will begin at the bridge across Craig Creek at the East end of the park near Brookwood Road\, NOT at 1000 River Oaks Road. Parking along Brookwood Road is limited\, so consider parking in the Southside Methodist Church parking area adjacent to San Jose Blvd and walking to the starting location. \nGPS Coordinates for Starting Location: 30°17.6990’N\, 81°38.9300’W

SUMMARY:Park & King Business District Cleanup
DESCRIPTION:Park & King Business District Cleanup | Sunday\, December 14\, 2025 from 9-11 a.m. | Cultivate Jax\nJoin St. Johns Riverkeeper and community partners for a cleanup in the heart of the Park and King Street Business District! We’ll meet at Cultivate Jax to grab supplies\, then spread out through the surrounding streets to pick up litter and beautify this vibrant local hub. \nEven though this area isn’t directly on the St. Johns River\, it’s only a few blocks away — and thanks to storm drains\, wind\, and rain\, trash from our streets often finds its way into the river. By cleaning up here\, we’re helping protect the river’s health and raising awareness that every part of Jacksonville is riverfront property. \nThis cleanup goes beyond aesthetics — it’s about taking care of our community and the waterways that connect us all. \nRegister\nRSVP here to sign the waiver and let us know you plan to join us!
