SUMMARY:Learn\, Connect & Collect Your PFAS Sample Kit
DESCRIPTION:Learn\, Connect & Collect Your PFAS Sample Kit | Wednesday\, September 23 | 4-7 p.m. | Melbourne Public Library (Conference Room)\nJoin us in the Melbourne Public Library’s conference room to learn more about PFAS (“forever chemicals”) and how they may affect our water\, health\, and communities. \nEnrolled study participants can stop by to pick up their PFAS sampling kits and receive instructions for collecting their tap water samples. \nInterested in participating in the PFAS study? Come learn about the study\, ask questions\, and find out how you can get involved. We are recruiting households for a pilot study investigating the presence of PFAS (“forever chemicals”) in drinking water connected to Lake Washington\, part of the Upper St. Johns River Basin. Participation requires collecting a one-time sample of your tap water. \nLearn more on our blog and sign up for the study. \nAll community members are welcome! Even if you are not participating in the study\, you can attend to learn more about PFAS\, why we are studying them\, and what you can do to better understand and protect your local water resources. \nWhether you’re already part of the study or simply curious about PFAS\, we invite you to join us\, ask questions\, and connect with others in the community. \nRSVP\nThis is a free event – RSVP here.

SUMMARY:Our Water\, Our Waste\, Our Land: Sharing Results from Our PFAS Study
DESCRIPTION:Our Water\, Our Waste\, Our Land: Sharing Results from Our PFAS Study | Wednesday\, January 13 | 6-7:30 p.m. | Melbourne Public Library (Conference Room) 540 E Fee Ave.\nJoin us in the Melbourne Public Library’s conference room to discuss the PFAS study’s results! \nOur pilot study tested tap water for PFAS (“forever chemicals”) in households connected to Lake Washington\, part of the Upper St. Johns River Basin. Now we’re ready to share what we found. \nCome learn about the key takeaways\, how the results were analyzed\, and what they mean for our water\, health\, and communities. We’ll also discuss how biosolids\, the treated sewage sludge often spread on land as fertilizer\, may be contributing to PFAS pollution in the Upper Basin\, where the St. Johns River begins and what happens on the land affects water quality downstream. \nAll community members are welcome! Even if you didn’t take part in the study\, you can attend to hear the results analysis\, learn more about PFAS and why we studied them\, and find out what you can do to better understand and protect your local water resources. \nWhether you contributed a sample or are simply curious about what’s in your water\, we invite you to join us\, ask questions\, and connect with others in the community. \nLearn more about the study here. \nRSVP\nThis is a free event – RSVP here and let us know you plan to join.
