Conserving Water to Save Our Rivers

PSA Contest

Here is the “Conserving Water to Save Our Rivers “ PSA Video Contest winning entry from Andrew Leverett a student at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts. Congratulations Andrew!

We want to thank all of the high school students throughout the watershed of the St. Johns River who submitted PSA videos to the contest.  We received entries from students attending public and private schools in Duval, Clay, Volusia, Seminole, and Marion counties.  They all did an outstanding job of raising awareness about the importance of protecting both our rivers and our groundwater supplies.

We also want to thank our partners in this project, Team Gaia.  Learn more about Team Gaia by visiting their website.  www.teamgaia.com.

We are experiencing water shortages all over the country. Those of us who live within the watershed of the St. Johns River know about this situation all too well. Central Florida is running out of water and is now looking to the St. Johns River and Ocklawaha River to solve its problems. Before too long, North Florida will experience water shortages, as well. Although water is essential to life, we certainly don’t treat it that way. If we are going to protect our water supply resources and our rivers for future generations, that must change.

The students who entered the PSA Contest are helping to be a part of that change – won’t you?
